What an amazing run! 'diaspora' - created & adapted for the stage by Michael Hosp, starring HBP's own Jonah Winston - enjoyed a strong closing weekend at the IndyFringe Building on Mass. Ave. This project, which has been in the works for Hosp and Winston for over 3 years, saw blood, sweat, tears, & cheers during its 3-week run and brought much-deserved awareness of the human spirit & social climates to the stage for Indy's audiences. We simply couldn't be more pleased. Special thanks go out to our amazing set crew, Pat McCarney for lighting, Amanday Lynn Meyer for stage management, & and to the Indyfringe volunteer staff for exemplary efforts. This was also the first show in HBP history where donations were accepted at each show, and what a delight it was to see such generosity in Indy's theater communityfor a new theater company like Half/Black. We certainly hope we can count on such kindness for upcoming productions.

Janurary 2011
Half/Black Productions co-artistic director Joanna Winston would like to extend her deepest gratitude to the students & faculty of Wabash College for welcoming the cast & crew of Gilgamesh (Indyfringe 2010) to their experimental theater for a revival of our epic tale! Special thanks go out to Robert Royalty Jr. for organizing the event and Michael Abbot for aiding our crew with technical aspects prior to showtime. Teachers & students alike had deep, thoughtful questions at the 2 shows' talkbacks and our performers were deeply humbled by how much it affected each audience. Thank you for taking the journey with us - we wish Wabash College the very best and hope we may have the chance to take another journey to their stage in the future!

Joanna Eve Winston is in the process of adapting another classic tale to the stage, this time delving into the twisted, egotistical, fractured, & yet beautiful mind of John Gardner's reimagined persona of Grendel. Hailing from the time of fur-clad warriors & meadhalls, Grendel will give audiences the rare opportunity to view the world from the mind of a self-proclaimed "Son of Cain". Grendel will take you on a wild journey underground, over land, to ancient idols, the grand halls of King Hrothgar, and even to the forgotten halls of an other ancient beasts, inviting the audience to ponder, "Who is the real monster - man or Grendel?"
